Don't Be Stupid - Part 2
Monday, August 23, 2010 at 12:36PM Yesterday I started my week's homage to the First Amendment with a lilting evisceration of Dr. Laura Schlessinger's "misguided" claim that her First Amendment rights were being trampled because some people didn't appreciate her tasteless use of the n-word. Well as you know, shortly after announcing she would not be renewing her contract at the end of the year, the ineffable Sarah Palin jumped into the dialogue, urging Dr. Laura not to "retreat" but "reload" in defense of said First Amendment rights.
I would have put a picture of Mrs. Palin up on this post, but she's got small kids & I apparently have some sort of intrinsic weakness when it comes to cold dissing somebody's mama (that & I know my mom will call me with a major serving of homestyle "beef"). Still, Palin has inserted herself into the debate with a vigorous outpouring of drivel and thus deserves at least a decent dose of dissage.
This is the second of three daily commentaries on the topic before I get back to Islamophobia. Call this my series on Nincompoopery.
Don't Be Stupid - Part Deux...

Woohee - go you, Derrick - YES YES YES - "Sarah Palin, Laura Schlessinger: PLEASE STOP!"
Thanks :-)
I am so happy that the ugly (inside and out) crazy old gym teacher reaped what she had sowed. She could have gotten her argument across by saying “N word” and not using the word and by not saying "don't NAACP me" but like Michael Richards AKA “Cosmo Kramer”,she ends up the the trash heap of history, a history of her own making. I am so happy that the free market AKA sponsors started to pull their ads (I guess they were exercising their free speach) and she finally realized that she was just another “run of the mill gabby” and her days were numbered. She realized that she was not as smart as she thought she was, finally!
The problem with Palin is the same when she mistakenly referred to Ronald Reagan Eureka College, being in California and we all know its in Illinois, same thing, she does not fact check anything she is going to say. She is soooo Palin!
DNA you are brillant! I totally feel your confusion when people say dumb (and in this case extremely offensive) stuff in a public place, have serious repercussions and then blame it on the lack of rights they have to say stupid things. Whats the logic in that one? And your broader point about the dumbinfication and "Nincompoopery" (love that word!) of America by people like Palin who grab at any issue to get a little bit of the spotlight at the expense of further dividing this country. Keep it up DNA! lookin forward to the series. ;)
